Course introduction

 Course introduction 


On Monday January 9, 2017 it was the first day of this semester. The name of this course is “A Discourse Approach in Reading” and I learned with Dr.Usa Noytim the same as last semester in “Reading Strategies in English”. I went to class around 7.20 am. Unfortunately, the seats in front of the room already taken so I have to sat far away from teacher. I don't want to sit there because I can't see and listen anything clearly.   

Teacher came to class 8.30 am, she is always punctual. First of all, she checked the list of name to know that who present, absent or late. After that she explained us about course outline; course title, course number, objectives, contents, teaching and learning activities and her contact information. In this semester we have to learn 15 weeks with 9 lessons and the rules that we will used is the same rules as the last course. She told us that “you have to pay attention when you’re studying because if you don’t listen, you will never know anything” and then teacher let us talked about what we do during the vacation with friends. She gave us time 2 minutes per each. For me after finishing final examination I went back to my hometown Suphanburi to help my mother worked.


On December 17, 2016 I attended project with language institute NPRU. We went to Kanchanaburi with foreign teachers. I had a good chance to spoke in English and traveling in beautiful places in the same time.


I went to Wat Hua Pho Temple for made merit with my mother on the last day of  2016.


I had a great opportunity to attended cross-over night to 2017 prayer service at the temple for celebrating New Year with my mother. It was the best beginning of the New Year.


And I went to Kanchanaburi for traveled and relaxing with my family and my relatives. We traveled to Srinakarind Dam and stayed on the raft for one night. We cooked, swam, jumped down into the river and slept together. Such a happy time!







After finish talking about vacation, the teacher gave us course outline and sheet for studying.

* Discourse = denotes written and spoken communications 
* Discourse marker = discourse marker is a word or phrase that plays a role in managing the flow and structure of discourse.

She let us did the exercises in the sheet. The first exercise was matching the following words with the correct genres of text; cause/effect, definition, problem solving, procedure, classification and comparison and contrast.

The second one was complete the sentences of each paragraph by using the words in the box. The teacher let us break 10 minutes and back to classroom to do the last exercise. The last one was rewrite the sentences by using the connectors in parenthesis. Today we finished the class at 11.30 am.

In my opinion nothing easy for me today because there were a lots of difficult words that I never know before but I can solved the problem by using online dictionary to find the definition of each word.

Today I felt lazy to go to school because it was the first day and I don’t want to go to school but when I came to class I felt better because I met my friends and we talk a lots. This course we studied for 3 hours I thought it better than last course because it not too long.
