Fashion(continued) & West meets East

On 26th September 2016
Today I had a midterm exam in this subject. I went to class around 8.15 am and my friends have already finished setting the table to do the exam. We started doing the exam around 8.40 am. We have 1 hour for this exam. I thought this exam was difficult for me because there were difficult vocabularies and long passage for reading but there were vocabularies that I have known before in lesson. It made me understand easily.

After finished doing the exam, teacher started the lesson in handout  let us talk about  hair style and shared opinion with partner and then finished this lesson. Today my partner was Piyathida who sat behind me.



The new lesson was “West meets East”
First of all, teacher show us the pictures about foods, martial arts and superstar then her let us found the information about each picture.

After that, teacher started the lesson in handout. She let us do pre-reading and the read and answer the questions.
Today we had to finish class early because teacher sick. The teacher assigned us to read in handout before class because this lesson was difficult if we didn’t read it before it too difficult to understand.

In my opinion this lesson is more difficult than others because there were a lot of difficult vocabularies and I need to practice more and more.
The strategies that I used to day was skimming, scanning, previewing, finding references and guessing words meaning from the context.
                                                                              


I think the new hair rules that all female students should have long hair and all male students should have crew cuts are great idea because it makes students look very good. Even though, the hair style didn’t make students to study better but it make good image for our university.

Fashion

On Monday 12 September 2016 I went to classroom around 7.20 am.
At 8.30 am. Teacher came to class and take attendance and then she let us though about the words about fashion such as clothes, shoes, hair style and accessory.

Teacher complained us why we talk too much and I knew that it’s boring for teacher.
Teacher gave us the exercise in sheet let us to find the words from description and pre-reading before we start reading in handout. After reading, teacher used Cambridge Dictionary Online to teach us how to pronounce each word correctly.    
Bikini: (n) /bɪˈkiː.ni/ a two-piece swimsuit for women:
Miniskirt: (n) /ˈmɪn.iˌskɜːt/a very short skirt
Necktie: (n)​ /ˈnek.taɪ/ a tie

After that, teacher gave us new handout it about “Fashion” then start reading in handout, answer the question and wrote “What did each paragraph about?”
Paragraph 1: In general, it’s not true that Japanese are more conservatively than Americans especially when it came to dress.
Paragraph 2: Yumiko had the first bad experience because of her clothes.
Paragraph 3: Yumiko had the second bad experience because of her clothes.
Paragraph 4: Yumiko realized that her clothes cause the problem.
Paragraph 5: Yumiko changed the clothes more casual.
Paragraph 6: The image of the country is sometime different from the reality.

 Essential skills – It’s about “Hair style” we learned about the words about hair style and reading paragraph to answer the question.

Today’s lesson was interesting, have a lot of vocabulary and not too difficult but the difficult was we talked too much. I knew it’s made teacher upset and she always complained us why we talked too much. I promise I will improve myself.

Today's technology (continued)

On Monday 5th August 2016
Today I came to class very late around 8.20 a.m. Teacher came to class at 8.30 a.m. and take attendance. After that teacher let us think about “What are advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet?” and shared our opinion on the board.
For me I thought the internet it very useful because it fast to sent messages, easy to use such as “Facebook” we can chat, call and video call with friends for free. We can use other internet applications to help us to good at English. We can practice and improve English skills whenever we want. In the other hand, internet applications have disadvantages sometime we spent too much time on it so some people didn’t do anything just talk and waste the time on it.

Teacher let us talked about this topic with friend who sat behind us so I talked with Piyathida both of us agree that the internet also have advantages and disadvantages. Then teacher pick someone up to shared their opinion to class.


After finishing, teacher let us found the meaning and full words as follows

After that, teacher gave us a handout and though us how to pronounce each correctly by use "http://dictionary.cambridge.org" 
Research (n) /rɪˈsɜːtʃ/: a detailed study of a subject, especially in order to discover (new) information or reach a (new) understanding.
Researcher (n) /rɪˈsɜːtʃər/: someone whose job is to study a subject carefully, especially in order to discover new information or understand the subject better.
Advantage (n) /ədˈvɑːn.tɪdʒ/ US ​ /: a condition giving a greater chance of success.
Disadvantage (n)/ˌdɪs.ədˈvɑːn.tɪdʒ/: a condition or situation that causes problems, especially one that causes something or someone to be less successful than other things or people.
Teenager (n) /ˈtiːnˌeɪ.dʒər/: a young person between 13 and 19 years old.

 After that, teacher let us read the passage in handout and pick someone up to shares what we got from this passage. Then teacher let us wrote on the board what is the researcher’s opinion and teenager’s opinion and did exercise in handout.

After finish doing the exercise we had break 10 minutes and back to did the test. I thought some part of the test was difficult because I don’t know some words and most of it easy because we have already learned it before in the lesson.
In my opinion I think 2 hours is too much to spent online because it too long the screen might damage your eyesight and waste too much time. We should do anything not only chatting or online.And I think everything can’t be communicated by e-mail because something best said face to face such as someone getting angry and you need to apologize and want her/him forgive you. You need to said face to face because it mean that how much you feeling guilty and truly sorry for your mistake. And I annoyed the person who lied online about their age or appearance maybe they are the criminal who want something from us. I don’t want to talk with them.

Today I feel happy because the lesson not difficult and easy to understand. Sometime teacher was pretty upset because we talked too much. And the difficult of today was the test because it had some words that I don’t know and I promise I’m going to practice more and more but some part was easy for me. I hope next time the test will easy for me.
